Which emails should I forward to ParentDeck?
Forward email from your kids’ schools, your district, and their teams and activities. ParentDeck suggests the senders based on your kids’ schools and activities, and you can add any it missed. Don’t forward personal or work email. Only the senders you choose reach ParentDeck.
What’s on the suggested list?
When you set up forwarding, ParentDeck lists your school district and the school and activity apps families use most. Common ones include:
- parentsquare.com
- infinitecampus.org
- schoology.com
- finalforms.com
- sportsyou.com
- payschools.com
- peachjar.com
- jostens.com
Untick any you don’t use. You don’t need to sort anything first. District messages, teacher notes, coach emails, and payment or form reminders all belong.
How do I add a sender that’s missing?
On the setup page, add it under Add a sender. You can add a school domain, like school.org, or one full address, like a coach’s own Gmail address. Then add it in your email: in Gmail, delete your old ParentDeck filter and import the new file; in iCloud, make a rule for it; in Outlook.com, add it to your rule.
To protect your privacy, you can’t add a whole personal email domain like gmail.com.
What about apps that only send phone notifications?
If it doesn’t reach your email, ParentDeck can’t see it. If the app can send you email notifications, turn them on.
Does the other parent need to forward too?
Only if school email also goes to their own inbox. Each parent forwards from their own email and adds their own address under Addresses you forward from. Everything lands in the same household.
What about older emails?
Automatic forwarding only sends new email. If something from the last few weeks still matters, like a form that isn’t due yet or an upcoming event, forward it to your ParentDeck address by hand. Past events don’t need to be sent.
What if I use Yahoo, work email, or another provider?
- Yahoo: ParentDeck only sees the emails you forward yourself. Free Yahoo Mail can’t forward automatically. Yahoo Mail Plus isn’t recommended: it forwards all of your mail, not just school email.
- Work email: it usually can’t forward outside the company, so use a personal address.
- Other providers: if your email can forward by sender, look in its settings for rules or filters, and forward the senders from the setup page to your ParentDeck address.
